Trump had given a press conference over the weekend, and apparently it was less than epic. The Biden-Harris campaign seized on it to put out the following:
Biden-Harris Campaign Statement on Trump's Press Conference
"Donald Trump is weak and desperate — both as a man and a candidate for President.
He spent the weekend golfing, the morning comparing himself to Jesus, and the afternoon lying about having money he definitely doesn't have.
His campaign can't raise money, he is uninterested in campaigning outside his country club, and every time he opens his mouth, he pushes moderate and suburban voters away with his dangerous agenda.
America deserves better than a feeble, confused, and tired Donald Trump."
MSNBC had a few comments about the press conference — and why the Biden campaign had material to work with.
Trump began by blaming President Joe Biden for his legal crises, which was both wrong and nonsensical. The Republican went on to say, “You can’t have an election in the middle of a political season,” before adding, “We just had Super Tuesday, and we had a Tuesday after Tuesday already.”
What that meant was anyone's guess.
Asked whether he’d accept a financial bailout from a foreign government to address his legal debts, the former president initially said he wouldn’t, though he quickly added, “I think you’d be allowed to, possibly. I don’t know. I mean, if you go borrow from a big bank many of the banks are outside of this, as you know, the biggest banks frankly are outside of our country.”
emphasis added
Trump also vowed to “bring crime back to law and order.”
As Sullivan notes:
The Biden-Harris campaign has taken off the gloves. That was clear from Joe Biden’s State of the Union address. But that night was not a one-off. Donald “91 Counts” Trump is overwhelmed with so many legal fights and threats to his liquidity (and freedom) that he has nearly run out of bandwidth for campaigning for president. Biden-Harris means to increase the pressure and prod Trump’s delicate ego at every opportunity.
After Trump boasted about winning a golf tournament on Sunday, he was ‘congratulated’:
Congratulations, Donald. Quite the accomplishment.
Donald J. Trump @realDonald Trump
It is my great honor to be at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach tonight, AWARDS NIGHT, to receive THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY & THE SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY. I WON BOTH! A large and golfing talented membership, a GREAT and difficult course, made the play very exciting. The qualifying and match play was amazing. A large and distinguished group will be there tonight. Very exciting, thank you!!!
Sullivan concludes with this (after some links and video clips):
Michelle Obama meant well with her comment contrasting Republicans and Democrats. But mockery is not bullying, and different from viscious taunts and threats. Or advocating real violence. Mockery has the benefit of adding to the psychic load Trump already cannot handle. Plus, as I’ve said time and again, Americans want to root for a fighter, to cheer for the underdog who punches back. The fictional George McFly who meekly takes it is cringe-worthy. Nobody wants to vote for him. The guy who cold-cocks Biff Tannen elicts cheers.
Team Biden-Harris has figured that out. Troll away.
More please.
UPDATE: and we’ve got more!
UPDATE:
If the intent of the Biden-Harris campaign is to rattle Trump, it seems to be working. Trump tweeted this on Truth Social in response to the Biden-Harris campaign warning Trump and the GOP will kill the affordable care act. (See the video in the tweet in the update just above this one. Here’s what the former guy had to say, with all the best words only he has for our “GREST AMERICAN CITIZENS”:
Donald J. Trump @realDonald Trump
I’m not running to terminate the ACA, AS CROOKED JOE BUDEN DISINFORMATES AND MISINFORMATES ALL THE TIME, I’m running to CLOSE THE BORDER, STOP INFLATION, MAKE OUR ECONOMY GREAT, STRENGTHEN OUR MILITARY, AND MAKE THE ACA, or OBAMACARE, AS IT IS KNOWN, MUCH BETTER, STRONGER, AND FAR LESS EXPENSIVE. IN OTHER WORDS, MAKE THE ACA MUCH, MUCH, MUCH BETTER FOR FAR LESS MONEY (OR COST) TO OUR GREST AMERICAN CITIZENS, WHO HAVE BEEN DECIMATED BY BIDEN, HIS RECORD INFLATION, BAD ECONOMY, AFGHANISTAN CATASTROPHE, AND JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE. CROOKED JOE BIDEN IS, BY FAR, THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES! MAGA2024

Stephen Colbert had a response to that which I can’t find a link to at the moment — but here’s something else from Colbert’s show to celebrate March Madness — as in Donald J. having a bad day in court. It shows just how easy a target for mockery Trump is — and makes the Biden-Harris statements seem restrained in contrast.
